frequently asked questions
Question: Is the thickness of a sheet of 1/2″ plastic a true 1/2″?
Answer: This is a common question we receive. It depends upon which type of plastic you are purchasing. Our plastics are sold in metric thicknesses. We put a sizing chart at the top of every product page to help you through the true thicknesses of each and every one of our products. For instance, have a look at one of our most popular products, plexiglass extruded acrylic sheets and see the attached chart and notice of “tolerance”. A tolerance is a range of acceptable measurements outside of the nominal dimension. So, tolerance variation (in this case 5% for acrylics) is the difference between the upper and lower limits of the thickness.
*Any acrylic sheet can be cut to size and our tolerances are typically less than 5%. If a specific tolerance is required, please contact us directly.
- 1/8″ = .118″ = 3mm
- 3/16″ = .177″ = 4.5mm
- 1/4″ = .220″ = 5.6mm
- 23/64″ = .354″ = 9.mm
- 3/8″ = .375″ = 9.5mm
Question: What type of glue or adhesive should I use with plastic?
Answer: Theoretically all plastics can be glued or bonded with the use of a contact adhesive. One of our most popular products, PVC Foam Board, can be bonded just like PVC piping for plumbing. Although we do not sell acrylic glue, PVC vinyl plastic glue or structural adhesives they are easily obtained online.
Question: How much will it cost to ship this order?
Answer: Many factors must be considered to estimate shipping charges including how far the material needs to travel and what was purchased (size, weight and volume). Please use our shipping estimator at checkout to determine these factors. Otherwise, you can contact us directly and one of our customer service associates will be happy to assist you.
Question: Can we pick up our order?
Answer: Yes. Our offices and warehouses are open Monday-Friday from 8:30am until 5pm. However, we only allow for pickups until 4:30pm.
Question: How will my order be delivered?
Answer: We ship everything that is 2’x4′ by one of the main parcel carriers (Fed Ex, UPS, USPS). Larger shipments will be delivered using one of our LTL (less than truck load) partners. They will arrive either in one of our custom-made crates or a pallet depending upon the size and quantity of the order. Orders being shipped to private residences should anticipate meeting the driver curbside. Please note that the truck drivers and their companies are not responsible for moving around the order once it is unloaded from the truck. Please feel free to contact us with any other questions.
Question: What do I do if my product arrives damaged?
Answer: Please inspect all the contents of the shipment upon its arrival. If any of the contents are damaged, please call us at (863) 510-7996 within 3 days of receiving your order. Please take photographs for documenting all the damage. For LTL deliveries you must make a note on the driver’s delivery receipt for any and all exterior damage this is visible. Damage claims will only be accepted if a note is made on the paperwork.
